Free statistical software: EZR on R commander R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics.R supports many functions for statistical analyses, but it does not incorporatestatistical graphical user interface (GUI). The R commander provides aeasy-to-use basic-statistics GUI to R based on Tcl/Tk language. However, the statistical function of the R commander is limited, especially in thefield of biostatistics. Therfore, we added statistical functions, includingsurvival analyses, ROC analyses, metaanalyses, sample size calculation, and so on, to the R commander. We named it 'EZR' (Easy R) andwe are distributing it on this page. EZR can import Excel files, CSV files,Stata files, and so on. EZR is now available on CRAN (The Comprehensive R Archive Network) as 'RcmdrPlugin.EZR' package. Contact address: Yoshinobu Kanda, M.D., [email protected].
Statistical functions of EZR
A complete manual of EZR is available only in Japanese (Chugai Igakusha,ISBN978-4-498-10901-8), but a report that introduced the investigationof EZR was published in Bone Marrow Transplantation (Nature PublishingGroup) as an Open article. It can be freely downloaded from the journal website (Kanda Y. Investigation of the freely available easy-to-usesoftware ‘EZR’ for medical statistics. Bone Marrow Transplantation 2013:48,452-458 advance online publication 3 December 2012; doi: 10.1038/bmt.2012.244). This paper has been cited in more than 4000 articles at September, 2020.
Please cite this report as a reference for scientific papers in whichEZR is used as a statistical software.
In addition, Professor Minato Nakazawa (Kobe Univ. Grad. School Heallth Sci.) is providing an excellent manual for the use of R and EZR in medical statics on his homepage. It can be downloaded from the link below. (He told me that there may be some typos and mistakes, which will be fixed in the future.)

SAS
Download the Installation Files in a Zip. Students and faculty can get SAS free of charge through a grant from SAS. According to our contract, SAS requires that each individual who installs SAS on his or her machine fill out a consent form and a short questionnaire about usage The grant we have gives them the right to use SAS as long as they are associated with the university (during the grant period, of course). The software can be downloaded and the license code renewed online.

Then you wait for an email with two attachments. One is the license file and the other is a pdf with instructions. As of 21-Oct-2019 the instructions pdf was out-of-date. Move the text file onto your hard drive. During the installation you will need to point to it to validate the installation. In the body of the email it will say '1. Log into pirates365.ecu.edu first. 2. Click Here to start downloading your software. When you Click Here, the installtion file will start downloading. It is about 6 GB. If you have little bandwidth at home, and can come to campus, you might want to download it, on campus, to a portable medium and then take it home to copy it to your home computer. You will probably need to reformat the flash drive before using it to hold SAS, as your flash drive probably has a FAT32 file system, but that system cannot handle files over 4 GB in size, but the NTFS can. You will need to unzip the zip file. While unzipping the zip the installation process started for me. I did not move on to the next step until the unzipping was completed. |

SAS University Edition(Limited version/FREE) - Base SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/IML, SAS Studio, SAS/Access. This free edition of SAS should enable you to do most everything we do with SAS in PSYC 6430/7431/7433, and it can be downloaded directly from SAS, no hassling with multiple DVDs. I have, however, been told by one student that some standard SAS syntax does not properly execute in the university edition. I’m betting that the installation is a lot easier than with SAS 9.3 or 9.4.
